Wellington sportstars give it their all in the ring for Cure Kids

Wellington rugby and league stars went fist-to-fist for their code last night in a special fundraiser event for Cure Kids.

Shane Parata from the Hunters league team is turning back the clock, and getting in to the boxing ring.

According to Shane Parata "Here I am after two months solid training, it sort of prepares you a little bit for the ring but it was quite difficult out there"

Randall Bishop is more used to the basketball court and the footy field but not the boxing ring and says it was one of the hardest things he’s ever done.

Randall Bishop says, "It was probably the hardest thing I've ever done in my life aye, after that second round, man was tiring."

The main event headlined the pro fight between Asher Derbyshire from Ngāti Tūwharetoa against Scott Taliauli.

Asher had been sparring with Shane Cameron in preparation for this fight and in the third round it paid off.

Regardless of who won the fights tonight, the real winner was Cure Kids.
