Whangaparaoa students visit WWII site

A group of students from Te Kura Māori o Whangaparaoa has made a historical visit to Cassino, the scene of one of the bloodiest battles of WWII.

13 students have visited the Cassino War Cemetery for the first time as they trace the footsteps of the 28th Māori Battalion through Italy.

The school's principal says it was a moving experience for them all.
